The idea for the frogs comes from the frog chorus and creating interactive models that add some interesting sounds to the piece. I’ve been looking to use some fluid dynamics in a scene for some time too and having nice water effects just adds a lot to any environment. This uses the free fluvio system. The other option was to use unity’s built in water and particles with gravity for the flow (Meatballs i believe they call them). A few tests were carried out but really fluvio is free, offers a lot more options and looks way better. The downside is the added learning curve when using any extension.
